July 2021
Revolution calling.
Long story short, I found some writing time and we got a dog.
I now get a minimum of 2 hours per week and a max of... well, the best week I've had 8 hours. Which is incredible. I think I can improve on that even.
It started in May and was so obvious, I wish I'd thought of it before. Though to be honest even if I had, I doubt I could have pushed through on it. When the time is right the time is right. And when it came down to it, it wasn't even me who saw the obvious, it was my wife. I won't bore you with details, but it was merely a way of condensing things I do, in order to make the half hour here and there happen all in one go.
Coincidentally, the week I was due to try it, a facebook friend was asking for submissions for Gravity City magazine. It was open to newcomers. It was fate I tell you. :)
I was slightly aprehensive because I haven't written a short story since 2016 I think, and that one was bad.
Another long story short, two writing session later I had a story, self edited and proof read by my wife, but no time to get it professionally edited. I submitted it with little hope, but four weeks later it was accepted and a few weeks later, published.
Then we got a dog.
And time dried up for a few weeks. Most of June really. Seriously disappointed.
However, my July it had miraculously reappeared, though I was on holiday and couldn't use it, but during the holiday I was asked to submit to another magazine.
And I can't tell you how excited I was by that.
Gravity city was writing to a theme, but this one is REALLY writing to a theme, and definitely not my comfort zone. Which is the point of writing really, get out of your zone and put in the effort, see what you can create.
So, whatever comes of it, I'm enjoying that process and will update here when I know.
A further update, I'm making a note of all the current WIPs that mean anything to me and I'm going to paste a progress status into the main page. Something to work to and to let any passer by know where I am.
Plus links to Gravity City and beyond :)
